Truthfully, Damian’s been the same ignorant little boy for years. And it’s a growth that’s been missing from the character for quite some time. Waid does a fantastic job making Damian finally feel more mature after all of this. Necessarily how and why is a bit of a stretch, however, Black Alice turns the tide just enough for our heroes before Lazarus Planet: Omega #1 wraps.Īdditionally, there is a great statement from Damian Wayne where he screams at King Fire Bull saying “if I’ve learned anything over the last few days it’s that in the end, you’ll never be better than your father.” This line really hit home the value of Batman and the growth of Damian’s character in continuity. But, it’s the connection that’s a bit too vague. Granted, readers will comprehend how things are being fixed and who’s behind it all by the end of Lazarus Planet: Omega #1. I think that’s Waid’s biggest flaw in the issue. Now, I wish I could better explain the logistics behind it all … but I can’t. It’s her power to manipulate and transfer magic that’s causing this disruption.
